Delete your account

Last updated: 17 September 2026.

This is a translation, provided for convenience. The French version is the one that applies.

In one sentence

PAL, the reading journal published by Dilé Baptiste, lets you delete your account yourself, in three steps and without asking anyone. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

From the app, or from the website

  • Open Settings — the rightmost tab in the iPhone and Android app, your profile menu on the website.
  • Scroll down to Delete my account.
  • Confirm. Deletion happens at once, with no grace period and no trash: there is no way back, and no backup to restore you from.

If you no longer have the app

Write to baptiste.dile@gmail.com from your account’s email address — that is how we check the request comes from you — with the subject “Delete my PAL account”. The account is deleted within thirty days at most, and in practice within days.

What is deleted

Everything about you, in one go and without exception:

  • The account — email address, encrypted password, and the Google or Apple sign-in if you used one.
  • The profile — username, display name, monogram colour, favourite genres, visibility.
  • The whole library — the four shelves and, for each book, its rating, your review, your reading dates, the page you had reached, ownership, and the corrections you made to the catalogue.
  • The notebook — saved quotes, yearly goals, awaited releases.
  • The social side — who you follow, your messages in threads, your reactions, your notifications.
  • The cover photos you took: the files themselves are removed from storage, not just their reference.

What remains, and why

  • The books in the catalogue — titles, authors, covers, page counts. This catalogue is shared by all readers and contains nothing about you: it says neither that you had the book, nor what you thought of it.
  • Our hosts’ technical logs — for security and troubleshooting, Vercel and Supabase keep access traces including IP addresses, for their own retention periods. PAL neither reads nor uses them.

No other data is kept, copied elsewhere, or saved “just in case”: there is no backup of your library after deletion.

Deleting only part of it

You don’t have to lose everything to erase something. From the app, at any time: remove a book from a shelf (which takes its rating, your review and your dates with it), delete a quote, delete one of your messages, remove a cover photo. And on the website, Export my data in Settings gives you a file of everything you entered — do it before deleting your account if you want to keep a record.

Everything else

What is stored and why is detailed in the privacy policy, the publisher’s details are in the legal notice, and the rules of the service in the terms of use.
